BAKERY

The last building in the Great Plains regional unit is the Skanzen Bakery. In the baker’s shop visitors can taste the sweet and salted delicacies made by the local baker. Leavened bread, croissant, patties, scones with cottage cheese and much more.
The bakery was owned by Ernő Máté in Izsák, which operated from 1940 up to 1998. After this period it was taken apart and brought to the Museum. The fittings of the bakery recall the 1940s, when dough was knead in wooden troughs and the loaves and cakes formed on a board. The dough was leavened in round wicker baskets and the baskets were lined up at the side of the oven. The fresh bread and cakes were sold directly from the bake house.

You are more then welcome to taste the delicacies baked in the oven, i.e. flat breads with sour cream, strudels, croissants with cheese and the fresh bread.
